HCG (Generic Pregnyl®)

HCG is an LH mimetic. LH is a signal the pituitary produces to stimulate testosterone production and improve sperm quality. HCG stimulates LH receptors not only in the testes but also in the brain, where it is necessary for StAR expression. StAR is an important protein necessary for the facilitation of cholesterol into the inner mitochondrial membrane where it can be converted to pregnenolone and down the neurosteroid cascade into DHEA, progesterone, allopregnanolone and other important neurosteroids for cognition, memory, mood, sleep architecture, libido, and mental drive.

Cost: $300 for ~8-20 weeks of medication (1x 12,000iu vial).

Synergy: HCG can stimulate intra-testicular testosterone (ITT), pregnenolone/DHEA cascades, and spermatogenesis, which may otherwise be suppressed on TRT. We recommend all patients on TRT take HCG for a minimum of four months per year to prevent theoretical testicular atrophy and cell death.
